We have all certainly experienced a challenging few months, and we can bet that injectables have been the last thing on your mind. But now that businesses are opening again and you may be heading back to work in person, you might be suddenly more aware that you’re overdue for your next Botox® or dermal fillers treatment! We completely understand. Many of us are in the same boat and having that realization right now, so we want to encourage you to call and schedule your appointment with us as soon as possible — our appointment slots are filling up fast!
In addition to scheduling your next session as soon as possible, you can ensure you’ll enjoy the highest quality injectables experience and results by keeping these tips in mind before and after your session — that’s right, you have the power to boost your own results! Here’s how:
See a provider with training & expertise
Dr. Pocurull and Nurse Practitioner Ellie Leal are both Master Aesthetic injectors with advanced training who know how to minimize bruising. Artisan’s understands your desire for less down-time and takes extra precautions to help with bruising, including the use of:
• “AccuVien®️, a laser device that illuminates superficial vessels under the skin to help the injector navigate around those vessels
• Natural supplements which help minimize bruising
• Laser therapy to alleviate bruising after injection
Plan ahead
It’s true that injectables typically require little to no downtime — that’s part of what makes them so great! — but everyone heals differently, and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
So be sure to plan for some social downtime a few days to a week following your session, allowing time for any bruising or swelling at your treatment areas to fully subside. Even though injectables are one of the most efficient, safest and proven methods for taking years off your appearance, a little strategic planning will ensure that you achieve optimal results in time for any important events.
Avoid blood-thinning medicines and foods
Blood thinners can increase your risk of bruising and swelling, so avoiding them around the time of your injectables session is a smart idea. When we say “blood thinners” we mean not only NSAIDs but also alcohol, green tea, gingko, garlic and ginger — all common foods known for their blood-thinning capabilities. That being said, if you take NSAIDs regularly or have a prescription for them or other blood-thinning medications, you should consult your physician before making any changes to the dose or frequency.
Avoid exercise that puts your head upside-down
We recommend avoiding intense workouts or any yoga poses that have you putting your head in an upside-down position, for a few days to a week following your session. This is because either of those activities could increase blood flow to your treatment areas, which can exacerbate swelling and bruising.
Keep it cool
Gently applying ice on and off for a few minutes at a time immediately before and following your session helps to reduce any bruising or swelling by shrinking your blood vessels and minimizing blood flow to the area.
We hope you’re able to schedule your next Botox or fillers session with us soon! Between following these tips and experiencing the expertise of our trained injectors, you can feel confident in loving your rejuvenated, natural-looking results.
